Background
The Jordanian Armed Forces awarded Kirisun Solutions with a new contract to extend and redesign the army’s encrypted digital radio system. The redesigned DMR trunking system will provide the army with critical communications in military compounds, navy units, air bases and land forces throughout Jordan.
Challenge
The Jordanian government wanted to improve the communication systems used by army. It aimed to improve voice communications, increase the capacity of the system, and to introduce support for data communication transmissions to improve army safety. Limited Coverage Providing adequate, reliable coverage along the length of the railway lines was a major challenge.
Solution
The eventual solution deployed in Army Centre involved a much wider range of specialist Kirisun products than usual to ensure the Army could meet the strict security requirements. The Kirisun Integrated Command & Dispatcher system was implemented to provide a single unified platform capable of supporting voice and data services, critical voice services, etc. The intelligent call handling, mapping and reporting system includes features such as emergency alarm displays and dispatch. GPS-based location services integrated into the radios enables the control room to see where vehicles and foot patrols are in real-time on digital maps. Kirisun also provided DMR Tier III trunking system, DP990 professional radios and body worn cameras. The DP990 terminals were mostly used by army personnel.
